Before the sound of scissors and the clash of colour bowls, before the bookings and the Bellevue Street buzz, there was Leonard : a stylist with a vision , relentless dedication and a sharp eye for detail. He began his journey as one of the original members of Toni & Guy Australia, working out of their iconic Pitt Street salon. It didn’t take long for Leonards natural talent to shine. Not just in the artistry of hair but in education - his ability to teach , inspire and lead others in the craft. His flair for education soon saw him travelling the globe as an International Educator for the Toni & Guy franchise , sharing technique and style on some of the biggest stages in the world.

Enter Surry Hills and something of his own….. After years on the global circuit, Leonard felt the pull to create something personal. A salon that blended precision and artistry with warmth, community and individuality. He opened his first space on Albion street in Surry Hills , a neighbourhood that would become the heart of his hair journey and a true reflection of his creative spirit. It was during this chapter that Leonards life changed in the most beautiful way: he became a father to three beautiful girls. Life became fuller, faster and more meaningful than he ever imagined. The salon moved from Albion Street to a tucked away location on Albion Lane and eventually found its forever home - a hidden gem on Bellevue Street, right behind the pub.

For Leonard and I, creativity is our favourite kind of escape. We spend our days shaping and designing through hair - an artform in itself. But after hours , our creative worlds expand. You’ll find Leonard in the back garden - Loren Kramar drifting from the speaker and a paintbrush in his hand moving across the canvas with the rhythm of a Latin dancer. As for me I enjoy writing , literally. Calligraphy is my hobby and I am fast growing my collection of brushes, inks and paints that I use to explore the shapes and moods of letters. Traditional writing is also a love of mine—a longer journey, perhaps—but one I’m happy to wander, word by word. My music of choice-Vivaldi Four Seasons. Hobbies don’t need to be productive, profitable, or lead to some grand outcome—they can simply exist for their enjoyment. Whether you’re sketching (badly), learning a few words in a new language , or trying your hand at pottery, the experience itself is enough. It’s okay to do things just because they make you smile. Not everything has to be a side hustle or a stepping stone—sometimes, it’s enough just to enjoy.

Once upon a time I became a content creator

From Scissors to Scrolls

Well, well, well…..Tiktok and I are becoming quite the unexpected pair.

A short while ago , I had no Tiktok account and no real idea of the use of one ( for me anyway). Fast forward to now and the salons got followers, rolling in and I’m over here thinking - wait, am I a content creator now?

You see, there’s a fabulous haircut that I’ve done on one of my beautiful clients more times than I can count. Sometimes we rinse and repeat and other times we give it a little twist.Guess what? Tiktok is LOVING the latest version. We’re talking likes, saves shares and comments. There’s been hairdressers across the globe attempting to reproduce it and between you and me what looks very straight forward is actually a complex haircut.

What started as just another day behind the chair turned into a scroll-stopping moment. There I was, stepping over the invisible border I swore that I wasn’t interested in (ahem social media) and suddenly having a bit of fun with it. Who knew?

So here’s my little message to you: KEEP PUSHING, keep playing and don’t be afraid to take the road that you didn’t plan on. Sometimes it leads to placed full of creativity, unexepected joy and yes a few unexpected comments!!!!
